Banswada - The "Cherapunji" of Rajasthan

Being a Business Development role holder of my firm, I often need to visit many places from where I can have some opportunity of software development work.

As a part of it, I am in visit of Banswada (Rajasthan) for two days.

I left Ahmedabad on 9:50 PM sharp in a sleeper coach from a very ordinary travel agency named "Banswada Travels". But I must say, I have never seen such time punctuality in anyother very much well-known travel agencies who are running expensive Volvo Coaches between Ahmedabad and Mumbai/Pune. The time was given to me was 9:50 PM and the bus left on 9:49 PM as per my watch. They have already given me the warning that bus will not wait for any passenger who comes late after the scheduled departure. As a result 4 passengers litteraly run behind the bus when the bus departed. :)

This is the second visit of Banswada, and even I have seen the same time-punctuality last time when I was returning from Banswada. I have seen the people who operated this bus service, nothing special in their personality. But still there is a target in their mind that the bus MUST NOT be late even by 5 minutes. I think the travels who takes lots of Rupees from the tourist and not maintaining the time-punctuality, should learn something from these very ordinary yet accurate people.

Well... Banswada is called Cherapunji of Rajasthan. Because, this city shows maximum rainfall in entire state. However, this monsoon, Banswada shown 70% rain, because overall rainfall of Rajasthan is very much law this time.

I stayed at Kushal Bagh Palace Hotel, which was actually waiting for me desparately. May be I was the only customer staying there for these 2 days. Room was AC, and it was quite a clean and big room having double bed, running hot and cold water and with TV. The rent of that room is Rs. 600/- per day. The only room service provided by the hotel is "TEA" but it was also much accurate.

Talking about business, I met few people whom I found really caring people of Education industry. I met some officials of Aravali Maha-Vidyalaya. This is the college affiliated with Mohanlal Sukhadia University (Udaipur) having hi-tech Student Support Center which is connected online with the university. This is the only one student service center of its kind in India I suppose.

The university is also planning to expand the use of IT and making the unit as much paperless as it can. Hence, I was here at Banswada. The meeting was quite successful, and still one more major meeting is pending, which may held after a fortnight. Let us see what happens... (crossing my fingers)

Presenting some snaps of Aravali College. Note joking.. Its a college but sitting in the ancient palace of Banswada. So study here and feel yourself as a Prince.. :)

Putting some snaps of Banswada market. You will surely say that it looks like "Junagadh" of Saurashtra.

Famous Daylab Lake of Banswada:

So, currently waiting for the returning bus which will leave on 10:30 at night sharp.

C u back in Ahmedabad...
